The WSP teaches the workshop part of the Diploma programme at its’ premises at Ward Park. We utilise teachers from both the local Waikato region and further afield. Our teaching calendar is broken up into 3 modules per year, each module lasts for approximately 10 weeks with breaks for the school holidays. Term starts usually about mid February and wraps up about mid November.

Because of the distance some of students and teachers travel to get here we concentrate our contact time between the students and teachers to alternate Fridays. So every second Friday during the module, students gather at our studio for an intensive 6 hour lesson. During the weeks in-between lessons the students are encouraged to spend up to 20 hours per week practicing, during this time they can contact the tutor or other staff of the WSP for assistance. Our facilities are available for the student's use anytime during the week as long as no other class is scheduled.

To encourage the students to attend any of the general workshops that the WSP organises throughout the year the Diploma have free entry. We have a wide range of kilns available for the students to use as well as a well equipped studio – drop in for a visit or give us a call.

The purpose of this programme is for the student to develop a wide range of skills in ceramics. This covers both different approaches to forming objects and methods of firing and glazing them. We also discuss issues surrounding aesthetics, personal development, professional and marketing advice and networking.
