Artists in Residence

Susan St Lawrence

My ceramic practise takes four avenues:
  • narrative sculpture
  • collaborative art projects with Small Stories and other art groups
  • exhibition curation
  • teaching.
Each path is important to me for different reasons.

My sculpture is expressive narrative and explores the universe of inner stories, dreams, memories and alter-egos we carry around inside of us.  The work is gestural, and always shows evidence of its making and firing.  It often incorporates contributions from ceramic friends; a significant emotional element for me.  Sculpture allows me to express my artistic visions.

The Waikato Society of Potters is proud to support five Artists in residence within our community and studio. Our philosophy is to provide spaces and places for merging artists to hone their skills in a supportive environment that encourages and fosters learning, teaching and creative opportunities to allow our AR's to flourish and grow their art.
