Even though classes have finished for the year there's still lots of activity at the studio. It's great to see you all at Open Studio finishing off your pieces in time for That Day. We have some exciting news about a workshop coming up next year - more on that below. But before that there's all sorts of other thing to do. While we're all counting down the days to the holidays and that day that shan't be named (tralalalalaaaa!), Margaret and Libby are bending over not backwards but forwards to get all your wonderful pieces through the kilns before we close up for the year. Counting down

Our wonderful volunteer Margaret has been super busy getting all your creations through the kilns ahead of the December rush. THANK YOU MARGARET. Term 4 classes are starting to wind up next week and they'll all be done and dusted for the year on Sunday 7 December. We'll be posting the 2026 Term 1 classes up on our bookings page in the next couple of weeks so start thinking about your pottery plans for next year....

It's been a busy week here with classes starting up and Magic Margaret has been pumping all the the work through the kilns - she's had all five electrics firing at once quite frequently lately. Spring is really springing, bringing it’s typical four seasons in one day vibes and we’ve been alternating between having the heaters on and having the doors and windows open. Exhibition opening, Raku firing, 3B classes, Throwdown

It’s been fab to see all the packaged-up pieces coming into the studio this week, ready for the BIG EXHIBITION next week! Regardless of whether you have entered any pieces, we’d love it if you joined us for the opening preview and awards evening, next Thursday, 5.30pm-7.30pm at ArtsPost. If you can’t make it on the evening, the exhibition will run through until the 14th of September, so head over and take a look at the fabulous creations!All the other news below… 😊...

It's great to see all your happy faces in the studio again.Libby, Margaret and the ARs have been hard at work glazing and firing the all the pieces from the school holiday programmes. They'll be ready to be collected soon. Patience please. ...

Upgrade update

Incredibly it's all nearly done! The sun gods smiled this week and the roof replacement is complete, at least over WSP section of the building. The guttering is going on today or tomorrow (Thursday/Friday). Initially the kiln room ceiling was scheduled to be painted after we reopen, but we explained that we need unimpeded access to the kilns ahead of the exhibition and the builders have worked really hard to get it all done ahead of schedule. A huge shout out to Harry van den Berg and the team...

Great things happening here

Kia ora clay family,Two more days to go before we close for two weeks. The School Holiday Programmes have been and gone. The kilns are full, the pickup-shelves are full, and the sky and the ground are full of water. We've got some great workshops coming up in the next couple of months, check them out below....

Classes, closure, exhibition and more

Kia ora clay family,The shelves are fast filling up with awesome pieces the kids are making in the School Holiday Programmes. It's great to see so many happy little faces. The team will be busy getting everything through the kilns - more on that below. In the meantime we hope you're all staying warm and dry, and get some time to cosy up on the couch....

Firing incident, Tuesday volunteers, Pit firing update

The studio will be closed for Matariki tomorrow (Mānawatia a Matariki everyone!), but many of our Term 2 classes finished up this week, so that means there’s lots of Members’ Open Studio sessions for you to take advantage of next week 😊In other news, we have had a bit of an incident in one of our bisque firings, read about that and everything else below....
