The Mighty Waikato Pottery Throwdown
Words from Tess (WSP president):
Members participated in series of challenges including blind fold throwing , team throwing and blind folded hand building + the teapot challenge. All in the name of fun. Some came with the idea of watching and not participating, but seeing how everyone else was amongst the fun they soon joined.
At kai time we all enjoyed a great spread put on by those who attended. It was great to see members korero with members that had not meet before and getting to know each other.
A big thank you to our judge for the day Diane Parker who entertained the members with her light-hearted judging comments. She also took the time to impart her knowledge as she considered each piece.
Thank you to the committee for organising this event. Also, to our assistant manager Larissa, volunteers, artists in residents and tutors with helping to prepare for this event.

Michele Rumney Exhibition 'Solid' at Artspost
Michele Rumney’s exhibition ‘Solid’ will be opening at the Ida Carey gallery at Artspost on Thursday 28th of September from 5.30pm, running through to 29th of October. Focusing on a mixture of clay and ply works, we have enjoyed seeing Michele’s experiments and reckon this will be pretty cool.

Gas Kiln Update
For anyone asking, the gas kiln will be unloaded first thing tomorrow morning and re-fired again towards the end of next week. Our gas monitor is calibrated twice yearly for the safety of our members and the premises, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding while it is away for servicing.
