Hello lovelies!
We hope everyone is enjoying these last days of summer / early autumn - long may it last. The pieces coming out of the kilns were excellent this week, as were the people - as is always the case at the best club in the world! Take a gander at the beauties above 😍
This week we need to tell you about the upcoming AGM and we have new(ish) staff members to introduce you to. Read all about it below...
2026 Annual General Meeting
The date is set for our AGM - Tuesday 12th May, 6pm.
Please come along and join in the kōrero about our club. We need a certain number of members present to form a quorum and make it all official and such, so if you’re a member attending Play with Clay, please consider spending 30 minutes at the meeting to help pass motions, minutes, and financial accounts. We'll share a kai as well, so bring a wee plate to share, if you can.
You might also like to think about joining the committee. It’s a voluntary position, but having enough committee members is essential to keep our society up and running. Committee members meet once a month via Zoom to keep us on track, pay the bills, and to make sure you have a place to come and pot.
If you'd like a nomination form, please get in touch with Libby.
Staff appointments
We've finished recruiting, and are delighted to introduce you to your (kinda) new WSP staff-crew! No doubt, most of you will know us already, as we're all potters and have long-running associations with WSP. Here's the line-up:
Libby Cameron - Manager
Dave Austin - Assistant Manager (starting Tuesday 31st March, and continuing to contract until then)
Bronwyn Wright - Studio Assistant (starting Monday 4th May)
While we won't all be on-site every day, you'll find at least one of us in the studio during our opening hours of Monday - Friday, 9.30am - 4pm.
Possible power outage
Wells Electrical will be doing some maintenance on the power meter box for the whole Arts Centre, next week on Tuesday 24th from 8am. This may mean they have to cut the power for up to 45 minutes.
We've planned the start time so it will be all done and dusted by the time our Tuesday morning class starts at 9.30am, so fingers crossed the maintenance is straight forward and stays on schedule.
This does mean that the kilns will not be firing on Monday the 23rd, to ensure they're not running when the power is turned off. Margaret is also heading off on a well-deserved holiday next week, so please do bear with us while we catch up on kiln loading and firing through the rest of the week.
