We've been loving seeing your Shared Earth entry forms roll in this week — thank you to everyone who's got theirs in already! We know there's always a few stragglers though, so we've extended the entry deadline a little — see below for the new date.

A big thank you to this week's PWC and MOS fairies: Teresa Gibbison, Wilhelmiina Drummond, Margaret Raine, Patsy Hall, Yasmin Davis and Kristen Almond — please join us in thanking them for volunteering and making the studio available for you to use! xx

Just a heads up — we'll be closed all day Saturday 22 August for the Glazing for Wood Firing workshop, so no clay sales, pick-ups or drop-offs that day, sorry! As always, check the online studio calendar before you head in.

Glazing for Wood Firing

Saturday 22 August | 10am–4pm
With Suzy Dunser

This workshop explores glazing approaches tailored specifically for wood and soda firing — how slips and glazes interact with flame, ash and atmosphere to create unique surfaces. You'll review the slips and glazes available at WSP, when and why to use them, and when to leave clay bare to let natural effects develop, plus practical layering techniques for depth and variation.

Ideal for anyone preparing work for a wood firing. Bring bisque ware ready for glazing, and a shared kai for lunch.

Find more info and enrol here.

A Small Update on Clay Prices

We're sorry to be the bearers of not-so-fun news, but with rising freight charges, we've had to make a small increase to some of our clay prices. We know cost increases are never welcome, and we've kept this as modest as we possibly can — but wanted to be upfront with you all.

Please check the updated price lists in-studio or online before your next clay purchase, so there are no surprises at the till.

Thanks so much for your understanding, as always 🫶

Exhibition Opportunity — Morrinsville Gallery

Morrinsville Gallery has an opening in their Awatea Gallery this October — a light-filled space with street frontage on Thames Street, and the first gallery visitors see when they walk in. A perfect place for potters to exhibit!

  • Dates: 5–25 October

  • Cost: $115 per week, with room to discuss commission and pricing

This is an external opportunity, separate from WSP — if you're interested, get in touch with Dawn Adams at Morrinsville Gallery directly to find out more.
