Not only will the display include end of the year assessment work by continuing students, it will also include work from Stu and Deb who are completing their Diploma in Ceramic Arts this year, We hope you will make it to show them your support.

The studio will be closed to visitors for all other activities on Friday, so no drop-offs or pick-ups that day please.

Terms and conditions for enrollments

We are getting an increasing number of requests for credits, makeup classes or reduced fees for non-attendance at classes. Our terms and conditions are on the booking site and clearly listed for all to read before enrolling in classes or workshops. Our events are priced at the full duration of the class and based on numbers attending. We are therefore not in a position to provide any compensatory sessions or refunds to anyone who is unable to attend a session due to their own personal circumstances or schedules. We only provide makeup classes or refunds in the event that the society needs to cancel classes.

We are a charity operating on very limited resources and we often depend on grant funding and other means to keep costs of classes and our other services as low as we can. Other means include running private events and corporate workshops but in 2022 we have had a dramatic decrease in these bookings due to increased competition from another nearby studio. Therefore, we hope you understand that we are not in a position to compensate for classes that you enroll in but find you can not attend.

The Waikato Society of Potters (WSP) reserves the right cancel a class if it fails to achieve minimum enrolment numbers, for reasons outside of our control. A full refund will be given if the class is cancelled by the WSP less a 5% credit card fee.

If a student cancels their enrolment within 72 hours of the first class starting, no refund will be given. If a student cancels their booking less than 7 days prior to the event a 50% administration charge will be deducted from the refund. Should a student cancel their enrolment any time prior to the above a 20% administration fee will be deducted from the refund.

More workshops for your holiday prep

A collage of 3 pictures of of takeaway cups painted in bright colours

We have two more workshops listed for your holiday planning. These two workshops are perfect for anyone, even those who aren't interested in learning to make ceramic things.

The "Paint a Mug" and "Paint a Kapu Uku" workshops are an opportunity to custom paint either a handled mug or a takeaway, lidded keep cup. It could be for yourself, or as a unique gift to give away. These could also be a great thing to do with children.

These beautiful mugs and takeaway cups will already have been made, you can then let your creative juices flow with your decorating!

A note on kiln furniture

Since some people may be new to the studio and therefore not up to speed with our studio use procedures we wanted to put a reminder out that kiln furniture like props and wire, are for staff and kiln volunteer use only. We have had a few items used improperly by studio visitors recently that has resulted in them breaking. If your piece needs a biscuit, please make one rather than using pieces of kiln shelf. When measuring your piece to pay for firing, please include the size of the biscuit as this adds height and width to the space used in the kiln. Thanks for your help.
